Don’t sweat: The map shows about 57 miles of course, but that includes a shuttle to the start. This baby is a point to point!

Race Information

This race is going to be sweet. We’re teaming up with some local landowners, the city of Philipsburg, and the US Forest Service to bring a great ride to Granite County. This 46 mile point to point is great for anyone training for the Butte 100, or looking to complete their first long mountain bike race.

Mountain bike racing means, well, racing in the mountains, where the weather doesn’t always cooperate. Courses may change to accommodate unsafe weather or trail conditions. We’ll do our best to keep the website updated with any changes to the course or start times, but reserve the right to make changes without warning.

Point to Point!

The Philipsburg 46 is a point to point race, which we think is pretty cool. With that in mind, there are a few more moving parts than usual, and we'd like you to keep a few things in mind.

- Preregister! We're working with the good people at Tucker Transportation to get all of the racers from the finish to the start, and we're bad at reading minds. If you're planning on racing, please preregister so that we can order the right number of shuttles!

- Shuttles will leave at 8am from Winninghoff Park. We'll need to load bikes (and double check that you've got your shoes and helmet!), so please arrive a few minutes early. We think 7:45 is a great time to plan on being ready.

- Want to drive yourself? If you've got family coming to the race who's planning on giving you a ride to the start, that's perfectly fine. If you can shoot us a note, though, that'd be a big help. We'd hate to order too many buses!

Aid Stations

We'll have three aid stations fully stocked with water, Clif products, and a selection of snacks that we think sound delicious. If you're picky about your nutrition, don't sweat it. Riders are welcome to drop a bag with mom's cookies, your special sports drink, or an extra layer for the way home! We only ask that you keep your mid-race resupply to a one-gallon Ziplock bag, and drop it off at packet pick-up before 7:30am on Saturday.

camping

We're proud to offer free camping for racers and families at every Western Montana Trail Series event. In Philipsbug, we've got two options, depending on your preferences.

Tent Camping is available right downtown in Winninghoff Park. This is where the ice rink is in the winter, and where we'll be running packet pick-up, registration, and the post race party. The shuttle will leave from here as well.

RV Camping is available right down the road at the Sunshine Station. This spot has a little bit more space for the big rigs, but is still just a 2 minute spin from downtown.

For the Kids

If everyone is racing, who’s watching the kids? The good people at the MORE Program (Missoula Outdoor Recreation and Education) have stepped up to offer bicycle and adventure programs for children during all of the races this summer. They’ll have folks on staff to keep an eye on the kiddos (ages 2 and up!) while you’re doing the race thing. A suggested donation of $5 per child covers their overhead! Feel free to get in touch with Meg Whicher at Parks and Rec with any questions: mwhicher@ci.missoula.mt.us

Local Partners

We’re proud to be partnering with the Flint Creek Trails Association on the Philipsburg 46. Those guys are doing great work over there, check ’em out!
